The new model Mercury 4 strokes that have just been released recently Need manufactures top recommended rpm range? 5000 to 6000 ? 5000 - 5800 Need the gear box ratio? 2.14:1 ? Gearbx ratio 1.92:1 I assume that these numbers are on flat water....are gps speeds, correct accurate rpms and with engine fully trimed up on verge of porpoising Correct And If can locate the power curve for the engine Have tried but cant seem to find one looking at the numbers I would say u are damn near close to ideal prop, a little over proped and not hitting the top of the power curve at top speed....most likely because the prop has only a 5% slip....going up a 1" in pitch and loosing around 7% in slip would give u a few more rpms/ get to the power peak around the 5600. and around the 30 mph at 4000 cruise basically would the cost of changing the prop be worth the capital cost, and if a 18" pitch was avaible off the shelf...with a liitle less cupping and rake Thu bottom line , going from the numbers the engine is only just marginal for the size of the boat, ideally another 15 to 20% margin is not built in.... Same situation I describe above we have with our boat... |
