Fishing ReportsThe Store Report - 18/11/00I have left the report a little later this week to allow time to see what the weather has or is about to do to us. We have suffered like most of the country with a great deal of wind which
has had a bearing on where one has been able to fish over recent days.
Today is Saturday and we woke once again to sunshine, but with high winds that makes life difficult if your an angler. The southern end of the Lake is exposed to such a degree that the only form of successful fishing I would
suggest is by wetline. The high winds making nymphing with a dryline almost impossible unless your able to find a particularly sheltered spot.
Over the past few days we have seen a drop once again in barometic pressure, which often triggers a number of fresh fish into all the local
tributaries, but usually in conjunction with a frost.
The fresh fish have sprinkled themselves throughout the fishery and provided some good fishing over recent days. Those who have nymphed prior to the wind getting up (which seems to
be about 9am) have successfully used small naturals, and in the latter part of the week, with the movement of fish, a small Champagne coloured Glow Bug.
The river mouths have all been subjected to the wind, which in most cases has proved too difficult to fish, especially on the Eastern side of the lake. Those fortunate enough to be able to take the opportunity to fish the Western
Bays, have found some sheltered water at times, but the nature of the wind has made it difficult to read the rips.
The Lake itself once again has been difficult with the wind making life awkward. In the mornings you may find that you have an hour or two before the Lake becomes too rough. Fish in close, inside the 200 mtr mark and keep a keen eye on the horizon for the wind picking up. Make sure you move off the water quickly, as the lake chops up very qucikly.
If your lucky enough to fish the lake edge, harl with 3 colours, Parson Glory, Yellow Rabbit or Olive Woolly Buggers are my choice.
Not the most positive report, but the weather must improve! Should you require more up to date imfo please just call us 973868953 anytime. Cheers
