Fishing Reports

The Store report Oct 2-6

Well what a fantastic seek for those that are able to have a few days off and spend it with the children for the school holidays. The weather forecast indicated that we were in for some disruption but we have here been fortunate to have been spared once again.

We have had a smattering of rain earlier in the week that coloured rivers for a moment but as the weather has improved the colour has eased out, and the rivers have again returned to their lower and clearer conditions.

Those that have been on the water and the rivers have been busy have found that the conditions have changed to almost summer like, which means that you will need to fish to the conditionsthat prevail on the day.

The rivers have settled and the fish are finially begining to hold in lies that have started to establish themselves, with many hotspots having disappeared or have been changed over recent months. Often after a prolonged period of rain the rivers fill with debris, silt and metal which takes hold throughout what is great water and as the water eases and the rivers return to normal levels the fish come into hold. Many anglers have been busy fishing quite heavy water and have fished to fish that have been running or moving straight through, and therefore not having established where the lies are. Once the river has eased of volume the fish have moved into the lies and anglers have found it hard to determine where that is. Canvas lots of water, less tippet and lighten your weighted nymph, fish the faster but often shallow water.

Mix and mingle with roe imitations usually working best before and after the sun is on the water and concerntrating on nymph or naturals when the sun is on the water. Nothing is rule of thumb so if you have a hunch do it, you can often be surprised at the results.

The river mouths are perfect and rips are excellent, looking forward to fishing inside of the mouths over the next few nights!

Take care on the water and feel free to call for an update cheers stella and pete 073868953 anytime
