Fishing ReportsThe Store Report for July 8-11Good morning. The wild weather has turned into fantastic sunshine with a little wind and now some rain. Just perfect timing for the school holidays. We have endured some really wild weather with wind rain and snow hitting the area over the past week but the big high that is forecast is going to be around for a day or so yet. So if you are able to take advantage of the weather and the fishing, best to do so. The rivers have all had tremendous amounts of volume and colour over recent days but are still dropping away to their lower levels. All rivers in the fishery have been affected and though fishing has improved its still been a little tough over the past few days. The fish have moved but with the volume of water thats been through the river it makes it hard to determine where the fish are holding. Absolute commonsense is what is needed and fishing a leader length that maintains contact with the water your addressing. There have been good numbers of fish taken both in the Tongariro and the smaller streams but not by all, a matter of fishing to the conditions to secure fish. The next few days are looking good with a high which will bring cooler mornings and lovely days, often with heavy frosts though you will find that the rivers drop quite quickly. The T.t is still relatively high with water still draining after the weekend rainfall, it will fish well as it drops away to lower levels and the fish are able to station in the lies as we know them. River mouths with the wind having eased off will be a good spot to fish early evening or just inside of the mouths if your keen. There is some pressure but so much water to fish that the choice is yours. Feel free to call for an update. Have fun and ring for accommodation or for a report, cheers pete and stella 073868953 or e-mail peteandstella@thestore.co.nz From
