I genuinely don't disbelieve you in the slightest Marlingator but that's really unusual.  Has this all been from the same boat, and do you get a reasonable number of bites on the short lines (say 2nd or 3rd wave - maybe 4th wave if it's a trailer boat)?  If you never get short bites and never have fish on your teasers I'd start wondering if there might be an issue with the boat, or maybe the vessel might just raise them best further back as some boats do...  I've seen some crews place teasers I thought were too close to the boat, teasers with smaller individual baits like squid daisy chains should probably be placed further back or at least in a clear window where the fish can see them ... but I've had billfish come up really close to the boat on a teaser too.  

The other possibility is if you're always using the big boone bird (12 inch) the commotion it creates might be bringing the fish up further back in your pattern, the bird teaser might almost be too effective so to speak.  It's really interesting this ... I'm glad the teasers I've used/seen used have normally been pretty effective, as just seeing a fish up close is very dramatic.
