Stay at either the Whatuwhiwhi Top 10 Holiday Park (Harris and Janette are totally kayak fishing friendly) or the DOC camp at Matai Bay itself. Top 10 have fantastic facilities including excellent showers and a proper fish cleaning station and freezers. The DOC camp is nicely maintained but has the typical basic facilities. The fishing is fantastic and there are multiple launch options ranging from almost out of the front of your tent to less than 15 minutes drive if wind directions change. I consider this a kayak anglers "must do".

X 2
