You really need a sit on top to react faster to get out. That yak will be fine landing on beaches and gradual sloping rock shelves.

There are plenty of local spots you can access on that thing and will be ok for carrying a few pannies back for a feed I reckon. But a sit on top is way better for general rock acces, guess your gonna find out.

What are the disadvantages of a sit in model like this? I notice no one seems to use them for fishing.

2. How far can I safely expect to travel to and from spots? My fitness level is probably 6-7 out of 10 and I'm 37yo.

3. What sort of weight can I carry with it? I'm mostly fly fishing these days so don't need much, but come summer I'll be targetting kings with a lot heavier gear.

4. PFD aside (I already have a good one for rock fishing), what kind of safety equipment do I need? I guess a flag?

5. Is there a good book anyone can recommend for getting started?

Please let me know if you have any other thoughts/advice. At this point I will probably make a very close paddle to an innercity trevor spot as my first jaunt.

Ta, Tom
