Yes commercial have a concession size that they are allowed to to take which is 2mm less than what rec are allowed.
For me personally when we have set pots over the summer period it has been embrassing as to the amount of legal 54mm crays we have caught and only 2 mins from the ramp.
I would agrue that the reason why many rec dont catch legal crays is the way to go about fishing for them.

Think we will fish out of BOI if the going gets tough ,tow the boat up ,5 days fishing .Tuna,red snapper,scallops,maybe a marlin ..HG becoming complicated ..1 marlin worth 1000 snappers Tongue
Would be a fun trip get a few like minded people togeather probably need some Spearos or divers for the crayfish I would be keen for 5 days up North. Have done it before staying at Paihia and had a fish at Whangaroa as well which would be a good spot for 5 days.
Houhora is a prime spot..when the snaps are on around the corner by the mussel farm its like playing skittles .
Maybe something to consider in the future..used to do it with my mate ( take 2 boats ,but he had a stroke and is buggered now)
Always came home with some good fish,Could freeze them in the camping ground

How sad indeed, pay to give up the drinking does funny things.  There is always next week or next month to take your 9 if you feel that way.  But most of us will only be taking 7 Snapper come April fools day next year. If you go out West you can take 10 Snaps. I would rather have the Gurnard.
