Took advantage of the weather window last week to get out on the harbour for a fish, lucked out on softbaiting for Snapper but managed to find some decent Gurnard

nice video, interesting seeing the slider gurnard rig with little piece of pillie in action.

Yep when does lure fishing turn into bait fishing but looks like it works ok

Yeah it is questionable whether you could just say why don't you just use a flasher rig etc, which you could tie your own to mimic basically the same thing as a kabura but it seems to work well for me, the combination of tiny sharp hooks, rubber tassles and a sliding head so that fishes headshakes don't have the leverage of the lead helping them dislodge a hook, seems to be a winning combo.

I find I can catch Gurnard with a kabura easy enough without bait but a little bit more action to the jig is required, which can often end up catching the eye of a kahawai swimming by before the Gurnard have a chance to eat it
