13 people showed up for casting at the Kumeu Showgrounds including Paul from Kaitaia & reel servicer extraordinaire Jeff Murray.

Barry, Rohann & myself were all casting the new 150gm weights, unsure as to the other guys but I'd guess they were still using ounces. I managed a 120.38m on my first cast, 9xm and out of bounds and we won't even mention the accuracy Dead

Jeff & Paul did the most walking, throwing 19xm & 17xm.

I did learn a lot on the day and got some great help from Paul on my style and technique and advice from Jeff on grease and oils.

Barry also leant me some casting DVDs which were helpful for techniques, esp the Breakaway one with the loud guy showing the fit young girl how to cast but I made up one of the rope trainers they use and am practicing with that in the mornings.

This one is the loud guy with the rope casting aid. I learnt more about my casting technique from this one

This one had more surfcasting info but also has a clip of Danny Moeskops casting 300+

We're also going to see if we can coordinate with Paul to have a casting tuition day next year. Talking off the top of my head we'd probably look at holding in conjunction with a casting day or make a weekend of it, discussions will need to be had with the committee...
