A few people I have spoken to have concerns over the Blue Cod fishery top of the south island and wellington areas.
some have said by having min and max sizes juvenile cod will not replace the older fish (breeders)

On this topic if any one gets a chance to go and see Dr Peter Ritchie talk about "Size matters, How humans have become an evolutionary force that could change global fish stocks forever" I'd recommend it. He was in Gisborne recently and I'm unsure where else he is talking but well worth it if he's in your area. Easy to listen to, relevant information, interesting, with some eye openers in managing fish stocks.

His talk was not very well publicised in Gisborne, be interssted to know how many attended

Given that his talk was fishing related, surprised he or who ever organised the evening didnt make use of the Gisborne Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club may have got more to attend

The set up of the room certainly showed they weren't intending for much more people than what came. He's basically a genetic scientist from one of the unis, nothing to do with MPI or industry or fisheries management (which some people there seemed to forget, he received fisheries management questions that he couldn't talk to or answer). There was some people from the Tata there but I can't remember their names.
