Is there such a thing, as a tacho you can attach to your outboard but only temporarily?
I have a 1996 df9.9 4s suzuki and I don't think its revving high enough.

I have seen tachos for cars that have a loop that goes around a spark plug lead and uses the pulse to work out revs, is there something like this for boats and if so does anyone know where I could borrow one from or rent one?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Doubt you can rent them but you can order them from the states.

tinytach.com

Think from memory it was about $50US

I run one on my tiller handle, got it for engine hours and prop selection.

yep  about 35 bucks
go on trade me....
all thats needed is the one thin  wire coiled around a spark plug HT lead loose about 4 or 5 times.
I got one to check my dash tach that I suspect was wrong at hi rpms....
I also tested against my automotive tach and was accurate, except on the 2 stroke was 1/2 the actual rpms.
It also records motor running time

Have a hazy idea saw them at smart marine also?????
