Running 9" fender, with three large lures behind which runs subsurface. Currently running it off dredge bar type set up off port side. ------------- Those that say it can't be done are being overtaken by those doing it. |

on the starboard side a large pusher and then a tuna tummy or a Mahimahi rubber lure, worked 2 weeks ago and both long crn and long rigger caught Marlin, 2 in 1 day. The pusher sitting on the 1st wave with the tummy about 2 meters behind |

| Interesting topic. Hooker 5 squid daisy chain off the stern cleat... In clear window next to prop wash...wave 1.5-2ish on same side as long corner and a bit closer in than the Short corner... No idea whether it's working or not, have only raised and hooked one fish in 4 days. More likely us not being where the fish are. Any thoughts on these vs birds or just a big pusher appreciated |

Could be onto a winner there...... Been towin home made daisy chains of squid/birds etc , long and snakey . Got teaser reel mounted to hard top - maxel - then clip it down to run centre of prop wash . Looks good , birds make a commotion that's for sure got the big escaping tackle ones and the squid are El cheapo squid nation in rasta colours of course cos high tides at 20 past four mon. |

We have run short teasers off and on for 25 years and to be perfectly honest we have never had a fish come up on a teaser or take a lure behind a teaser. On the navy survey boats we used to tow 18" Cresent spanners off both davit arms

Pau.l PP has been saying it for years. The boats the initail attractant. I am not sure it they think its a ball of bait but more of a what is that? In The same way when spear ffishing alot species just cruise up to have a look n see what u are. If the boat is a teaser in the sence of marlin n tuns think its a ball of bait then there is a strong case for whar i am done to my hull. After diving and having looked at what my boat looks like driving over head and looking at footage of bait schools some strategicly placed paint jobs may helo to the bait ball effect. Some wilk say its rubbish Some may agree but it cant hurt. Since the paint job I have had some very interesting inshore fishing things happen. Lures teasers get them riled ip |

I caught my first gamefish trolling off the back of a 25000 tonne Shell Tanker. We were a top-up ship in Nigeria (1971) and bigger ships loaded as much as they could to clear the river bar and we rafted up and made 4 kts while we discharged. Chinese crew has seen me bait fishing and he got a piece of pork rind and threaded on hook. Got a beauty mahimahi in no time on my hand line burnt hands and needed leather gloves. When got aboard, I couldn't believe the colours of the bull maihi. I had no idea about this fish. Cook unhooked it and took it to galley telling me it was only good for stock!!!!! ------------- Be yourself; everyone else is already taken |

I genuinely don't disbelieve you in the slightest Marlingator but that's really unusual. Has this all been from the same boat, and do you get a reasonable number of bites on the short lines (say 2nd or 3rd wave - maybe 4th wave if it's a trailer boat)? If you never get short bites and never have fish on your teasers I'd start wondering if there might be an issue with the boat, or maybe the vessel might just raise them best further back as some boats do... I've seen some crews place teasers I thought were too close to the boat, teasers with smaller individual baits like squid daisy chains should probably be placed further back or at least in a clear window where the fish can see them ... but I've had billfish come up really close to the boat on a teaser too. The other possibility is if you're always using the big boone bird (12 inch) the commotion it creates might be bringing the fish up further back in your pattern, the bird teaser might almost be too effective so to speak. It's really interesting this ... I'm glad the teasers I've used/seen used have normally been pretty effective, as just seeing a fish up close is very dramatic.
