I had a wedding in the weekend up at Waitangi and i played some golf as well, I noticed some ledges on the back nine and was thinking they looked PERFECT for a LBG (deep good current etc) have any of you fished this area?

Advise welcome as always

Hey beedy eyes, have been fishing there once, it was recommended by the local tackle shop sales person.

Caught nothing not even a sprat and burleyed hard. I must say it looks like a very fishy place, but very rocky lost a few straylining rigs. There are heaps of reef systems out to the left from the looks of it too. The guy in the shop said kings cruise past on there way through the reef systems.

I must also note that we were there when no one was catching anything, went out in a charter boat and caught jack all as well, i think the fish were spawning at the time. So it would probably fire at the right time of year but will probably get fished alot too.

The Brampton reef holds a fair few fish in that area and we've fished it before and caught a couple of decent snapper. The best spot is down by the 12th tee as you're out of range of any hooked tee shots. I think they've moved the 13th tee so you could probably safely fish the bay in there too.
But yeah, very foul area but a nice easy option for a fish.
