Woke up at 5:30am, snuck out of the house, and went and got my fishing gear out of the garage. I carried every thing down to the Omokoroa Jetty and calapsed when i got there, my arms killing. As i put down my rods, i noticed a nice fat John Dory swimming around the pole. Before i could be bothered rigging up a softie, i unwraveled my throw net, aimed at the fish and hurled it over the top of it. Yep, i had trapped it. I continued to draw up the net in order to catch the dory in the netting. I let it flop out onto the deck then killed it.
After that i put a powerbait on, one i always have success on , onto my graphite rod i bought of Mark E, thanks Mark, flicked it towards the splashes and bang hooked up with a nice big Kahawai. I repeated this a few more times and before long i had 3 nice fat Kahawai.
Later i gathered 4 or 5 livies with my net and put one out for a Kingi, Dory or a Kahawai, on my rod with Blue Asparagus's reel that he gave me, thanks steve.
In the meantime i had landed my 2nd dory on that old Powerbait.
The sun rose and the day went on, but at about mid day, my line on BA's old reel started to creep out, thought it might be weed until it started nodding away.
Picked it up and it was another Dory!!!
Later that day, i caught another kahawai and a Trevally which was just legal but released.
I gave 1 dory to my neighbour, 1 dory to an old guy i know and kept the other 1.
Kept 2 Kahawai and released the rest. A hell of a lot of fun and a great day.
Jack.

He couldn't be bothered getting up in the morning, but i said to him don't blame me when i catch all the fish. Now he wishes he got up early!
Me and Matt went down today, i got a few Kahawai on softbait and JD took my line for a wander but didn't swallow livie. Also got a stingray which i played on BA's Penn Jigmaster 4 half an hour or so.

Total Catch for me and mate was 5 fish.
3 Dory
2 Kahawai
One of my JD's on softbait (powerbait, name: Pearl Shad), one on a livie.
Both KY on a Yum softbait. This one glows in the dark and has yellow paddle tail, called: Samurai Shad, picture underneath.

Hey Jack, I decided to go to Omokaroa to see you guys in action& got to the pontoon about 8am .
All I saw was blood everywhere so had a fair idea you had been & gone.
Looked like WW111 had begun
I stayed for a while chucking the plastics but no good.
One decent kingi followed right to the edge but turned away.
4-5 other people tried as well but no joy, I think you must have cleaned the place out
Looks like I'm gonna have to be there at 4-20am

Hey Bill, im so pi55ed off that i mist u. i left the wharf at about 7:45. Next time or if ur comming tomorrow give me a call first so i don't miss u. PM sent.
Ye we left and i was all packed up and realized we had left the blood but this other guy said don't worry i'll clear it, obviously he didn't.
I biked down 2 see if anything else was happening and my mate Jacquille said i had just missed some guy off the forums called Uncle. Sounds like u taught him heaps because when i got down he was saying u had set all his stuff up, etc

must say, it was a pretty impressive blood bath
Yeah, your mate didn't have any mono for a leader so I set him up.
Also watched him looking akward winding with his right hand so changed his reel over.
By the time I left he looked much more in control

Yep nice 1 he looked more comftable like that. Am taking him down 4 fish tomorrow.
I prefer the reel handle on right, but then again i like to flick the rod with the right hand also.
(need another right hand)
As 4 the blood bath i bleed the Ky and they still seem 2 av blood on the fillets?
