Hi guys
My cousins have a place just up from Medlands with vehicle, yaks, Stabi and a tinny and plenty of room to sleep a few of us...Sound good so far?
I talked to Mike (cuz) about doing a boys/fishing.net trip over there maybe around late Nov if we all chuck in for the bach cost (would be low) and food. Thinking about making it a long weekend so taking either the Mon or Fri off work. He's keen and those of us who dive can also get crays, scallops etc for everyone while we're there too.
Wondering who might be keen on this as a bit of a friendly competition maybe? Or just a weekend's fishing!
It was great to catch up with everyone at the comp this weekend so I figured it would be good to see about organising another get together soon.
So..anyone keen?! 3 days land based fishing at the barrier on the cheap...can't be bad :)
Cheers
Forsyth

Insteead of asking another silly question, I found out myself, flights from N.S. to Gt Barrier Is are $98 each way. That's pretty good.

Never heard of a m.d.o.? Just start feeling ill on Wednesday's and on Thursday get really ill (diarrhea works well because the boss will just say come back when you're feeling well) and then go fishing. Tip, don't talk about the trip before hand or afterwards.

So, it that four of us then?

OK guys - I'll have a better idea of costs after this weekend. But it won't be much at all for accom, mostly it'll just be food/beer/bait and the cost of getting over there. Flying's an option but you need to get there early and so if you've got more gear than they can take on the flight you're on, they just get it across whenever there's extra room and at no extra cost. Otherwise the ferry is a lot longer but you can take more gear and have a few beers which isn't always a bad thing ;)
If those of you who are interested in coming could let me know what weekends you definitely can/can't do between now and Xmas that would be really helpful.
I'm catching up with my cuz on Sat so should be able to get something figured out before we get through too many beers Shocked
Cheers fellas

PS I'll definitely be using a sick day or two for this trip - that's what they're for aren't they?? Evil%20Smile

I'm definitely interested in going. Any weekends good for me. I can take time off when ever I need to. Costs would be great to know. I know it's $98 on the ferry return and takes about 5 hours as just checked in a couple last night whop just came back from the barrier last night.

Hey guys
Sorry went a bit quiet on this, been trying to figure out dates with the family etc for when we can get the place. And when people are free before Xmas!
So, good news and bad news!!
Good news is that we can definitely get the place for a weekend and my cousin's keen to come over so we'll have the Stabi to get around on as well as yaks and a tinny, so that's top news.
Bad news is that it looks like before the Xmas break is just going to be too hard now, so I'm thinking it'll have to wait till we're properly into summer. Which is also good news as there will be more kings around :)
Will keep everyone posted, but maybe if we think about a weekend in Jan/Feb and book it in now that would be best??
Can I get an idea of who'd be keen then?

Name the date and we'll all be there if we're that keen. It's a long time away from now so it wouldn't be hard to save that weekend for the barrier.

In saying that,                             I'm keen.
