Hi all!

Quick question, jigging with a spinning reel (Okuma V-80a) what best leader setup that runs nicely onto spool? wind-on or 150lb or so with a PR knot? I haven't tried either yet but i'm guessing theres the right option.

N e other options welcome of course!!

Either>or( i like wind ons mind....one less knot) ...for me ,more of an issue would be floro or mono....I like black magic supple for wind ons to spinning reels....Hate flouro on a spinning reel, can get pretty uglyConfused....just my two cents worth

Have to disagree there LBD2.
With windon you have a knot for the double on the main line and another knot for the loop on the leader.  That's 2 knots versus 1 knot for the PR. Wink

The easiest leaders for spin reels are the limper/softer nylon leaders because the leader is not inclined to spring off the reel without tension on it.  Soft leaders give you suspect knots at the terminal rings/swivels.  Always pros and cons with everything.

Best setup is JB Hollow braid with nylon inserted into braid and glued/served. No knots, the ONLY 100% setup Wink

I have been peeking into 360 tuna site a bit lately, and the general concencus seems to be that the skippers are against punters using PR knots for fighting big fish (BFT), some have openly stated that they recommend windons only as they have seen a lot of PR knots fail? Cretinly hasnt been my experience to date but it got me thinking?
The charter skiper on Blue dog recently showed me how to tie a nail knot, it is what they use when popper fishing in the islands, he also interestingly does not use a mono leader, perferring a 100kilo braid leader, tied with the nail knot.
I thought there is only one knot in a wind on leader system, typically the one tied to form the double. the hollow braid is usually passed through its self to form the double in the wind on? ( uh ho better check my wind ons)
Heres a link wheer it is discussed by some knot spotters.

your right mate only one knot and its a plait or a bimini usually, must say I was wondering myself, I do like the PR though.

PR knot on all my spinners, Varivas Shock Leader or Fisherman Stealth Leader is my preference, nice and supple.
