Sorry in advance if this has been done to death!! but i havent heard enough about it to quite know what its about.. Can i Please have peoples opinions on this kayak, all comments are welcome..eg. stability, storage, comfort, speed, control, how easy is it to rig out with rod holders, anchor, etc... AND if i havent already asked for too much, could you, at the end of your post, give it a rating out of 10 please  Cheers Guys! They are good and stable, nice and light to carry solo. Easy to paddle and comfortable enough. The biggest downside is the lack of storage. Great for a beginner though and you will work out ways to deal with the lack of storage areas. I bought mine second hand three years ago and I am still happy enough with mine. And I have never tipped out of mine. I don't know if that is paddler skill, kayak design or plain luck. I know, my time will come someday

Never paddled one but have seen them in the flesh and I know they are great yak.

Loses marks for no transducer scupper and lack of storage well and the rear well is a bit small and too far back for my liking. Stability, tracking & comfort should be excellent! Ideal first kayak IMO.
Just wait for Piwi Herman.......

If your looking at getting into kayak fishing and theres one in your price range and its sea worthy go for it ......

I've got one - it was my first (and still is my current) Kayak from 2.5 years ago. At the time I did loads of research, talked lo loads of people and as a result bought a Swing. Since then there are newer models of Yaks on the market that are specifically aimed at fishing but at the time this was one of the best options around - I think it was a toss up between a Prowler or a Swing. I think its great - I find it very stable and I have 1 rod holder behind my seat on the left and a scotty holder in front on the right. You could consider a scotty rod holder as these give you more options - ie you could install a scotty rod holder now and use 1 rod but upgrade to one of their multi rod holders - afaik these will slot straight into your existing base that you used for one. Put bungees around the yak, run an anchor runnung line down the side on a little pulley system, stick in a simple paddle holder using a couple of saddles and a button and you're away. I have 2 hatches - one at the back and one at front. my transducer is in the one at the front. In the back as I said before I put in a white bucket i got form Mitre 10 that fits perfectly. Mate you've got a bargain - don't have any doubts - it was worth what you paid diesel for it - talking of which - I thought he was gonna help you rig it up ? Its hard for me to rate out of 10 as the only other yak I have is an ocean river gusto which is totally different but in todays Kayak climate (with the new ones having their new features etc) I would give it a 9/10. The reason being is that they can be picked up for half the price of the new Yaks - yes you spend 1-200 extra kitting them out but still they're a lot cheaper and that means a lot. To be honest I toyed with the idea of selling mine and getting a profish 400 just for the simple reason its my 40th coming up but in reality I don't think I will as I don't think its worth paying another 800-1000 for a Yak when this one is pretty good enough. cheers

yeah well im glad it will serve me good.. yeah i have to go see diesel on sunday, when im free, to see the yak as i havent yet seen it... so ill have a look at it, and well have a yarn about how to rig it up (going by his other swing which is already rigged) so that to look forward too.. pay it off over the next month or so, and hopefully rig it up before the season ends... but no doubt i will be ready for next season.. ------------- "size doesnt matter" tell that to the fisheries! |

| you got it on layby ? He is a very charitable man - ha ha. Take a camera with you when you go so you can photograph his setup. If you ask him nicely he'll probably rig it up for you (assuming you buy all the bits of course). |

Jordan, assuming you got it at a reasonable price (which from previous posts I'm sure you will have), you've got an exceptional good value yak.

Swing rating 100/10 .
I have had mine about 5 years now and cant really find a reason to change. Storage within reach is poor but you make do with a bag or something. The hull shape is a good allrounder and the weight very manageable to carry. plenty of places to put rodholders. The only current yak I would trade up to would be the profish 400 which is of similar size but purpose built for yakfishing. Stephen Tapp used Swings for years before proper fishing yaks came to be.
Do I love my swing more than my wife ? They both have conveniently placed rodholders

ive been thinking i need a kayak trolley, and ive found that the red hand trolleys cut up, work for others... just wondering if this would be suitable for the swing??? Can anyone vouch for this design fitting the swing? as im going to go buy one this weekend, if it does!! | Yep, that will work but you need to strap the trolley to the kayak tight or it will come off. The bungy cords are not good enough, you need a rachet type strap. |
