Had a mate who went up to Fiji a month or so ago and they did a half day charter and got 8 or 9 small yellowfin around 8-10 kg, but they said there was big schools of them all over the place, which by all accounts has not happened in Fiji for a number of years, coincides with the number of years that yellowfin have not been in NZ. I heard through another mate that when John H heard this he got all excited as it is when there is a whole lot of yellowfin in Fiji at this time of the year that is when we get a run of them down into NZ i.e. that is the migratory path they follow to get to NZ. By the time they get here they should be in the 15 - 20 kg range, lets hope this all comes true and at least a fair number get past the picket fence between NZ and Fiji.

About time to give this thread a bump, methinks.

21st of December and the Caltex marlin yet to be released from her holding pen. She's normally been let out before Xmas only to tease until the season really starts.
