got to one of my hot large snapper catching areas at about seven am monday morning.started putting out a nice berley trail on the last part of the  incoming tide as son as the tide stopped berleyed 20kgs of blue machrels and pilchards. as soon as the tide just started to move casted a nice medium sized flying fish out as bait.this got nailed after four minutes by a large hog  red result fought that fish for five minutes on 6kg only to loose it due to hooks coming out o well you get that. second bait i throw out once again a flyer gets taken on 6kg rig. result a nice 10 plus kg fish landed. bite only lasted for first hour and a half of the out going tide which happens about ninety percent of the on horn we managed plenty of quality fish in the  6 to 7 kg range which we released also. a nice day had by all on the boat.

hey eric you and me both no how  to  target  these fish and catch them consistantly.its time on the water. you cant catch them at home.patience no youre area youre fishing.fish different tides sooner or later you will get results.think like a fish. by the way this is the 7th fish i have had in the last four months from a area of 500 metres over 10kgs in weight with four over 11.2 kgs with lots of 5 to 8kg fish released.

But I will say this....I think you would be surprised just how many bloody good fishos there are that use these forums and regularly come home with the bacon that are also humble in their achievements.

That is really awesome Cod and to be appluaded.....that is afterall exactly why this place exsists.

Maybe its not what you say but how you are saying it mate?.....maybe just the abiguity of this medium where things can be taken in the wrong light....

anyhoo.....enuff of this....the class eagerly awaits your tutelage!

What sort of commercial fishing where you involved with?

im going to let the cat out of the bag for those that don't know "Justin" alias "cod" he works for Hooked on Fishing in whangaparaoa..... so if you have time or live in this area and need info on fishing these areas for big snaps just ask him well if you can catch up with him that is........ because when hes not at work he will be out on some charter boat or with Rick Pollock or chasing snapper in the Gulf..........
