Must say I am impresed, I just rigged up 3 of these lures, they certainly look quite impressive, I would certainly like to have a go with them myself some time!

In fact, and I can say what I like 'cos I make nice lures..........the one I saw would have to be the best workmanship I have ever seen in lures................and a stunning colour combo for NZ.

Just a rough idea on the lures, sorry, of about $70 for one of them, don't know what the others were, as the bloke I was rigging them for wasn't entirely forthcoming about the price of them either.
I definitely like the look of that sliced face tube though. The old pacific "fruitsalad" combo is a regular winner here as well, always gotta have a fruit salad, n'est-pas?

I do too, but the crimp slipped and I didn't notice, and seeing as how I had just given the rigee 3 bloody good sharp hooks, trace etc, I was not naturally predisposed to re-rigging the thing again.

Agreed, totally, CtoC, Hamiltonians are very nice people (good discount next time eh, Mike). I collected my newest G-Spot from Brad, last night. He already has a colour scheme called "Westie" (silver over orange) and as I hear lumo and white are both taking the majority of fish up North, right now, I got Brad to make me an "Eastie". Silver over pale green.
I have a consignment to deliver for my trip, starting Sunday. You may recognise the slant faced lure, Stu. The big lure is an "Eyebrow" Now that has to be the most skippy-like colours I've ever seen. The photo doesn't really do it justice. These are beautifully made lures. I'm so lucky I'm 5 minutes away from my TAS lure maker. He's a good guy, Brad, and deserves his lures to be seen around. I believe we should support local makers, but only if they're good enough and I think these are.
Hi FishB8, that middle lure is nice, but I'd still like to see a slash of red up the belly with those colours... I don't spose it makes much odds to the fish, but I like to see some indication that it looks like a hurt baitfish! :-)
Martini Max... those skirts have been flipped over like that so that west coast fish can see them.

I don't like to camoflauge my lures .... ....by having the light side down you are effectively doing what bait fish do naturally (ie) trying to hide from predators....
Q: Do injured bait fish swim up the "right" way? on their sides?? or upside down??
silhouette is where it is at!
But your lure does not represent an injured baitfish. The theroy been that yor lures are preditory fish pursuing bait fish school ( your boat). Set you patterns with this in mind & you will have much more success in nailing your billfish.

ahh...I disagree there Odin and as does someone who has a wee bit of success catching billfish over the past 3 seasons.....like over 300 infact.
boat = bait ball I can live with that...
lures = straglers/ injured fish trying to keep up with said bait ball (ie) easy meal!..perhaps the big purple and black lures might be "mistaken' for predators I guess...
that is my theory and I am sticking to it.....I wanna be reincarnated as a fish!
Indeed Martini......but then how could the tackle industry catch anglers?....are all bait fish black and silver?....although I am sure that combo will work just fine when the size and action are also good!?

saurie/pilchard/anchovy/squid/flying fish/mackerel etc. coloured and sized lures are supposed to immitate predatory fish species are they?....and your boat is supposed to be a shoal of krill or some such thing?...
At the end of the day there is no right and or wrong here....tis what work for you and what ever it is that you are confident in!
....although that lure you guys got that marlin on yesterday certainly didn't look like your typical bait school terroriser?
